Urbis has been commissioned by University of New South Wales (UNSW) (‘the Proponent’) to conduct an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment (‘ACHA’) of N18 Barker Street Carpark within the UNSW Kensington Campus legally described as part Lot 3 DP1264172 (‘the subject area’).
The ACHA is being prepared to support a State Significant Development Application (SSDA), which will seek approval for the redevelopment of the existing carpark to ensure compliance with Australian standards.

The ACHA will be conducted in accordance with the relevant guidelines under the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974, including the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Consultation Requirements for Proponents (DECCW, 2010). The ACHA will include a community consultation process with registered Aboriginal parties.
The Proponent is seeking the registration of Aboriginal persons or groups who may hold cultural knowledge relevant to determining the significance of Aboriginal object(s) and/or place(s) that may be present in the subject area.
