The Department of Housing, Local Government and Community Development (DHLGC) is a multi-functional human services and community-focused agency that works to provide responsive, safe and quality services and programs that empower communities and improve social outcomes for Territorians.

The CEO is accountable for the delivery of strategic high level policy, programs and services across the Northern Territory in the Housing, Local Government and Community Development portfolios and acts as a steward of the broader NT Public Service providing strategic leadership and direction to Government, industry and the community.

Sound knowledge and understanding of contemporary and emerging housing, local government and community development issues, particularly in regional and remote areas in the Territory, or similar, will be critical to this role as will exemplary skills in managing organisational budgets/finances, resources, assets and accountability frameworks.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated executive level leadership skills, a strong track record of exercising sound judgement, including in ambiguous environments, inspiring and communicating a sense of purpose and direction, and leading and driving organisational excellence in a large, complex, multi-disciplined, multi-cultural organisational setting.
