Everick Heritage Pty Ltd wishes to advise that we have been engaged to undertake an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment (ACHA) for the proposed redevelopment works at 809–815 Hunter Street, Newcastle West, Lot 101 DP1287621 (Project Area). Aboriginal objects are likely to be present, and impacts cannot be avoided; further investigation is required before development may proceed. Accordingly, test excavations will be undertaken under an Aboriginal Heritage Impact Permit (AHIP), which will be applied for by Wotso Newcastle West (the Proponent). The ACHA will support this AHIP application. The proposed redevelopment involves constructing a five‐storey commercial building, including a ground-level carpark.
The purpose of this community consultation is to assist with the proponent in the preparation of an application for an AHIP and to assist Heritage NSW with the determination of this application. Aboriginal parties with cultural knowledge relevant to determining the significance of Aboriginal objects and/or places in the area are invited to register their interest in participating in the consultation process. Please submit your contact details and a brief statement of interest by 21 March 2025.
The proponent details are as follows:
