PUBLIC NOTICE

ADOPTION OF MORETON BAY REGIONAL COUNCIL PLANNING SCHEME AMENDMENT - MINOR AMENDMENT NO.3 - VOLUNTARY HOME BUY BACK PROGRAM ZONING UPDATES

In accordance with section 20 of the Planning Act 2016 and Chapter 2, Part 2, section 6 of the Minister’s Guidelines and Rules, Moreton Bay City Council gives notice that on 9 October 2024 it adopted “Moreton Bay Regional Council Planning Scheme Amendment - Minor Amendment No. 3 - Voluntary Home Buy Back Program Zoning Updates” (adopted amendment). The adopted amendment is a minor amendment to the Moreton Bay Regional Council Planning Scheme Version 6 that will come into effect on 30 October 2024 as part of the Moreton Bay Regional Council Planning Scheme Version 7.

The adopted amendment is intended to apply only to the fifty-four (54) properties being rezoned, located in the suburbs of Bellara, Burpengary, Caboolture, Clontarf, Deception Bay, Eatons Hill, Kallangur, Mango Hill, Moodlu, Morayfield, Rothwell, Whiteside and Woody Point.

The purpose and general effect of the adopted amendment is to amend the zoning of fifty-four (54) properties acquired by Moreton Bay City Council under the Voluntary Home Buy Back Program (VHBB Program) administered by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority. The adopted amendment is necessary to meet the VHBB Program requirement to change the zoning of acquired properties to an “appropriate and contextually suitable non-occupied use.”

The adopted amendment supports zoning changes to the acquired properties in accordance with Schedule 1, section 2(l) of the Minister’s Guidelines and Rules, to either an Environmental management and conservation zone or a Recreation and open space zone under Schedule 2 Mapping (as relevant to Zone maps ZM-01 - ZM-76).
