Approved Planning scheme amendment

The Tasmanian Planning Commission has approved planning scheme amendment PLAM-23/04 to the Tasmanian Planning Scheme – Glenorchy which will take effect on 6 December 2024.

What land is affected by the amendment?

404-408 Main Road, 8 Mill Lane, 9-11 Mill Lane, 12 Mill Lane, 1/13-15 Mill Lane, 2/13-15 Mill Lane and 17 Mill Lane, Glenorchy.

What are the changes to the planning scheme?

The amendment rezones 404-408 Main Road, Glenorchy from Commercial to Urban Mixed Use Zone, the remaining affected sites from Light Industrial to Urban Mixed Use Zone, and portions of Barry Street road reserve from Commercial and Light Industrial Zones to Central Business and Inner Residential Zones; adds a new planning control GLE-S14.0 Mill Lane Specific Area Plan over the affected land; removes GLE-C6.1.139 - 404-408 Main Road, Glenorchy from GLE-Table C6.1 Local Heritage Places of the Local Historic Heritage Code and the associated overlay map; and amends reference to relevant clauses specified in the document listed as ‘Australian Standard AS 2890.3‐2015 Parking facilities ‐ Part 3: Bicycle parking’ under GLE-Applied, Adopted or Incorporated Documents.

What does the amendment do?

The amendment seeks to rezone the affected land to an Urban Mixed Use Zone and apply the Mill Lane Specific Area Plan to enable well-designed infill apartments while providing for existing uses.
