CAIRNS SPECIAL SCHOOL
The Department of Education is proposing to deliver new infrastructure at the above address and involves the expansion of the existing Cairns Special School to provide the following:
Stage 1
• Two (2) one-storey buildings each containing four (4) GLA spaces (equating to 8 total) and one (1) outdoor play space and central playground;
• Internal access road linking the existing school and Alberta Drive; and
• Formalised on-site setdown area comprising 23 car parking spaces and covered walkway.
Future Stage
• One-storey administration and therapy building
• One two-storey building containing eight (8) GLA spaces and three (3) outdoor learning areas,
• Internal access road (eastern boundary) and covered walkway to full setdown area;
• 46 car parking spaces including 2 PWD spaces.
The complete project will involve a potential increase of 140 students across the site
