COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GOLD COAST PUBLIC NOTICE - ADOPTION OF TEMPORARY LOCAL PLANNING INSTRUMENT NO. 12 (GOLD COAST SCREEN INDUSTRY PRECINCT) 2024 FOR THE GOLD COAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

Notice is given under the Planning Act 2016 (Qld) that on 31 January 2025, the Council of the City of Gold Coast adopted Temporary Local Planning Instrument No. 12 (Gold Coast Screen Industry Precinct) 2024 for the City of Gold Coast.

Temporary Local Planning Instrument No. 12 (Gold Coast Screen Industry Precinct) 2024 has effect from 1 March 2025 and will cease to have effect on 28 February 2027, unless repealed sooner.

Temporary Local Planning Instrument No. 12 (Gold Coast Screen Industry Precinct) 2024 applies to part of the Gold Coast local government area, namely land located at 396 Stanmore Road, Yatala (Lot 1 SP349468 and Lot 901 SP349468) as identified within Appendix A of the TLPI.

The purpose and general effect of Temporary Local Planning Instrument No. 12 (Gold Coast Screen Industry Precinct) 2024 is to:

  • facilitate the development of screen production and supporting activities;
  • promote economic growth and employment opportunities on the Gold Coast by expanding development prospects for new screen production locations and facilities;
  • minimise impacts on surrounding sensitive uses; and
  • ensure that the screen industry precinct does not compromise the long-term use of adjacent industrial land

Temporary Local Planning Instrument No. 12 (Gold Coast Screen Industry Precinct) 2024 affects the operation of the City of Gold Coast City Plan (City Plan) by:

  • suspending the City Plan zones applying to the subject land and replacing with a new Innovation zone (Gold Coast Screen Industry precinct) and open space zone;
  • affecting City Plan Strategic Framework – Element – Specialist centres by including reference to the Gold Coast screen industry precinct;
  • affecting City Plan Strategic Framework – Element – Industry and business areas by including specific outcomes regarding the Gold Coast screen industry precinct;
  • introducing a new Table of assessment – Table 5.5.17(2): Material change of use – Innovation zone (Gold Coast screen industry precinct); and
  • affecting the application of the Innovation zone code to development in the Gold Coast Screen industry precinct and including assessment benchmarks for such development.

A copy of Temporary Local Planning Instrument No. 12 (Gold Coast Screen Industry Precinct) 2024:

  • will be available for inspection and purchase at the City’s customer service centres; and
  • can be viewed online or downloaded at cityofgoldcoast.com.au/cityplan.
