HAVE YOUR SAY ON LOCAL LAWS

1/2/2025

The City of Gold Coast (City) has a responsibility to manage parking needs across the City to meet the expectations of the community, and to provide safe and accessible parking for all users. Under the Local Government Act 2009, the City has the authority to make and enforce local laws to achieve this. You are invited to have your say on the following related proposed amendments.

Proposed amendments: The City proposes to amend both Local Law No.2 (Regulated Parking) 2006 and Subordinate Local Law No.2 (Regulated Parking) 2006 to:
• expand the Bundall/Chevron Island traffic area and create new traffic areas for Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 and Mudgeeraba Showgrounds
• amend the local government employee parking permit criteria
• update penalty unit amounts for certain minor traffic offences, and
• make administrative amendments.
Note: Regulated Parking (Amendment) Local Law (No.1) 2024 and Regulated Parking (Amendment) Subordinate Local Law (No.1) 2024 have been drafted to give effect to each of the proposed amendments.
