PROPOSED BULK WATER SUPPLY INFRASTRUCTURE

BOWEN PIPELINE PROJECT – BURDEKIN RIVER (KIRKNIE) TO BOWEN (DELTA)

Bowen Pipeline Company (BPC) are proposing the development of a bulk water supply pipeline and associated infrastructure between the Burdekin River (16km upstream from Home Hill) and the locality of Bowen.

The proposal includes

  • 116km trunk water pipeline comprising an underground HDPE pipe, with a diameter ranging between 1.6m and 1.8m
  • Intake infrastructure at the Burdekin River
  • Five (5) pump stations and associated substations
  • Electrical transmission infrastructure to connect the pump stations into the grid
  • Break tanks
  • Above ground valves
  • Three (3) temporary construction laydown areas, including pipeline extrusion machinery and modular construction structures (dongas)

This proposal has been submitted as a request for a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) under the Planning Act 2016
