PROPOSED BULK WATER SUPPLY INFRASTRUCTURE
BOWEN PIPELINE PROJECT – BURDEKIN RIVER (KIRKNIE) TO BOWEN (DELTA)
Bowen Pipeline Company (BPC) are proposing the development of a bulk water supply pipeline and associated infrastructure between the Burdekin River (16km upstream from Home Hill) and the locality of Bowen.
The proposal includes
•116km trunk water pipeline comprising an underground HDPE pipe, with a diameter ranging between 1.6m and 1.8m
•Intake infrastructure at the Burdekin River
•Five (5) pump stations and associated substations
•Electrical transmission infrastructure to connect the pump stations into the grid
•Break tanks
•Above ground valves
•Three (3) temporary construction laydown areas, including pipeline extrusion machinery and modular construction structures (dongas)
This proposal has been submitted as a request for a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) under the Planning Act 2016.
