NOTICE OF AUTHORISATION MEETING JIRRBAL PEOPLE #4 NATIVE TITLE CLAIM (QUD983/2015)

The North Queensland Land Council (NQLC) will hold an authorisation meeting on Saturday, 15 March 2025 to which all members of the Jirrbal People #4 native title claim group (as described below) are invited to attend. This is an important meeting where binding decisions about the Jirrbal People #4 native title claim are proposed to be made.

Following the Authorisation meeting, there will be a Consent Determination Celebration lunch for Part A which will take place at approximately 12.30pm.

PURPOSE OF MEETING

The purpose of this meeting is to consider, and if appropriate, make decisions about the following:

  1. CONFIRM the agreed and adopted decision making process to be used for making decisions at the meeting.

  1. NOMINATE Jirrbal persons to be the replacement Applicant for the Jirrbal People #4 native title claim (QUD983/2015).

  1. AUTHORISE the replacement Applicant to replace the existing Applicant for the Jirrbal People #4 native title claim (QUD983/2015), and authorise the replacement Applicant to make the Jirrbal People #4 native title claim and to deal with all matters arising under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth), including sections 61 and 251B of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth).

  1. AUTHORISE any conditions to be imposed on the authority of the replacement Applicant.

  1. AUTHORISE the replacement Applicant to make an interlocutory application to the Federal Court to replace the existing Applicant in accordance with section 66B of the NTA and to amend the Jirrbal #4 native title claim (Form 1) to record the change of the Applicant.

All members of the Jirrbal People #4 claim group as described below are eligible and invited to attend this meeting.

The Jirrbal People #4 claim group is comprised of those Aboriginal persons who are descended (which may include descent by adoption) from one or more of the following apical ancestors (listed alphabetically):
