PUBLIC NOTICE – COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE GOLD COAST

2/11/2024

Notice of approved inspection program

The City of Gold Coast (The City) hereby gives notice pursuant to section 134 of the Local Government Act 2009 that by resolution dated 2 November 2023 (round 837), Council approved a selective inspection program that allows Authorised Persons to enter and inspect properties to ensure compliance with Local Government Acts.

The City will inspect caravan parks and individual sites to ensure caravans, buildings and other structures are safe. Although officers from the City will be conducting external inspections of sites, officers will not enter your property without seeking permission from you. It is important to note that in most cases, officers will not require entry to caravans, buildings, or structures.

Park managers will be informed of a date and time for site inspections. For further information surrounding the date and time of inspections for your caravan park, please contact your park manager directly.

The City will review the following:

  • Fire safety and fire separation between sites, buildings and other structures;
  • General building safety;
  • Structural safety; and
  • Sustainable and safe environment of buildings.

The process will be consistent of the following steps:

  • A check will be completed of our records, aerial photos and other relevant information;
  • A brief external site inspection of your property will be carried out; and
  • We will take appropriate action, depending on the results of our inspection.

The program will run from 4 November 2024 to 4 February 2025.

The scope of the program allows Authorised Persons to enter and inspect properties in order to identify safety non-compliances such as:

  • Lack of fire separation between sites, buildings and other structures
  • Unsafe, dilapidated or dangerous buildings and other structures
  • Buildings and other structures unfit for use or occupation, filthy, infected with disease or infested with vermin.

The resolution that approved the inspection program is available in the webpage listed below. Alternatively, a hard copy can be requested from the City of Gold Coast’s office and provided free of charge.
