Urbis has been commissioned by the University of New South Wales (‘the Proponent’) to conduct an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment (‘ACHA’) of the proposed redevelopment of portions of the UNSW Kensington Campus, High Street, Kensington NSW legally described as Lot 3 in Deposited Plan 1264172 and Lot 5 in Deposited Plan 1264171 (‘the subject area’). The relevant portions are located near Gate 8 and within the ‘Village Green’ precinct.
The ACHA is being prepared to support a State Significant Development Application (‘SSDA’), which will seek approval to undertake the redevelopment of the subject area into a multi-story aquatic centre, including the demolition of the existing ground level carpark.

The ACHA is to be carried out in accordance with the National Parks and Wildlife Regulation 2019 (NSW) and the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Consultation Requirements for Proponents (DEECW 2010) and will include consultation with the Aboriginal community.
Urbis is seeking interest from Aboriginal parties who hold cultural knowledge relevant to determining the significance of Aboriginal objects and/or places that may exist within the subject area who wish to be included as a Registered Aboriginal Party (‘RAP’) for the ACHA.
