Expression of Interest

Early Childhood Australia (ECA)- Tasmanian Branch Inc. is the peak body for Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) in Tasmania.

ECA is seeking expressions of interest for the administration and implementation of grant funding received in the 2024-2025 Tasmanian State Budget for two separate initiatives that are designed to strengthen the future of the Early Childhood Education and Care workforce across the state.

Initiative One:

Grant funding has been received to continue the successful implementation of the Early Years and School Aged Care (EYSAC) Workforce Strategy- Tasmania, 2021 and Beyond.

The EYSAC Project has been designed to support, leverage and inform the National Children’s Workforce Strategy (2021- 2030), identifying and enacting state-based priorities to build and support the Tasmanian Education and Care workforce.

Early Childhood Australia- Tasmania Branch Inc. through the EYSAC project, have committed to the Industry Skills Compact for Early Childhood Education and Care, and have developed a Priority Action Plan to support the Tasmanian Government’s vision for a high-quality training and workforce development system that is accessible, job-focused and responsive to the needs of the sector.

Early Childhood Australia- Tasmania Branch Inc. has been granted $890,000 over 3 years (2024-2027) to enable the employment of two project officers to assist with policy development and community partnerships and to continue the work of the EYSAC project.

Initiative Two:

Grant funding has been received to implement the Early Years Workforce Development Fund. The fund is to support the upskilling of the education and care workforce through 200 training scholarships between $15,000 (Cert III and Diploma) and $30,000 (Bachelor and Masters) for education and care qualifications.

The grant funding also includes a relocation payment of $2,500 for ECEC workers who are relocating to remote locations and a bonus for staff who remain with the same ECEC provider in rural, isolated and hard to staff areas for up to 6 years.

The Early Years Workforce Development Fund will see an investment of $4,500,000 to upskill the ECEC workforce and improve staffing in hard-to-reach places across the state over a four-year period (2024-2028).

Expressions of interests are sought for one or both of the initiatives from service partners and organisations who have demonstrated experience and capability to oversee and deliver the initiatives.
